2021-22 Emerging Designer Program

Pittsburgh Public Theater’s Emerging Designer Program provides an opportunity for a local Pittsburgh designer in the early- to mid- stages of their career to participate in the creative process as a design assistant while working under the mentorship of an expert designer and United Scenic Artists member. In this inaugural season, the Public is seeking a lighting design candidate for two shows under the mentorship of Sherrice Mojgani. Ideal candidates will have theatrical lighting experience or demonstrated potential in lighting for events. The connection will serve to introduce the Theater to the emerging designer’s aesthetic and work ethic and may position them for a future engagement as a mainstage designer at Pittsburgh Public Theater. Emerging Designers will receive an honorarium of $1,000 per show and will be asked to work no more than 55 hours over a span of two weeks. Dates are April 3-16, 2022 and/or May 22-June 4, 2022. Applicants should send cover, resume, and three professional references to production@ppt.org with DESIGNER in the subject line.
