A note from Marya and Shaunda
At Pittsburgh Public Theater, we hold ourselves to the highest standards of Artistic Excellence: bringing bold, thought-provoking productions to our stages. We are committed to Attracting and Retaining Talent: providing a home for extraordinary artists, creatives, interns, administrators, and all storytellers who enrich our cultural landscape and contribute to our city’s vitality. We strive for Community Connection: crafting programming that is relevant and speaks to the heart of our city, amplifies diverse voices, and fosters meaningful dialogue. We do all of this with Fiscal Responsibility: ensuring that our mission remains sustainable for generations to come.
The Right to Bear Art
We believe that every city needs a public library to learn, a town hall to govern, and a public theater to reflect, feel and to revel. These spaces are essential to the strength of a community and serve to uplift a vast array of voices that improve the lives of those who dare to listen. The Public exists to serve, challenge, stimulate, and entertain and for 50 years, we have met the mission.
We are writing to you to affirm our vision, and values to be a workplace and gathering destination that ensures a sense of belonging for all. For this reason, The Public will not pursue or accept funding that compromises our mission or forces us to denounce our dedication to YOU. You are part of the inclusivity in every aspect of our work. Our role is to ensure a sense of belonging for all, and we will continue to uphold that in both our work and our values.
If you stand with us, let us know! We need your support. Our 50th Anniversary season goal is to raise $500,000 in new funding to celebrate this milestone and renew a fiscal foundation for the future. Please consider a gift to The Golden Circle — our 50th Anniversary effort — to deepen your relationship with The Public. Join us in further developing and sustaining the dream of a true public theater.
Every ticket purchased, every dollar donated, and every moment shared in our theater strengthens this legacy. Together, we build a future where the arts remain a cornerstone of civic life.
Together, we are We the Public.
