HELEN WEATHERS Monologue
...So, while the "virtual velocity" of light is infinite, the apparent velocity will always appear to be the same. Even though the Michelson-Morley experiment proves that Dr. Einstein's theory is seriously flawed, I still like his book, "The Principle of Relativity." It was a nice break from my Shakespeare studies.
RALPHIE PARKER Monologue
"A BB gun can be used for many things besides shooting targets, birds and squirrels."
(He smiles, puts the tablet back down on the desk and writes.) "You can also use a BB gun to ... " (He stops.) Um ... (He sighs, tears the page out and throws it into the wastebasket. Begins writing.) What I want for Christmas, by Ralph Parker.
“A BB gun is a very good thing to have in case of emergency. If tigers escaped from the zoo, I could ..." No. (He tears the paper from his tablet, wads it up and tosses it into the wastebasket. Lights down on his room.)
(Stops writing, picks up his tablet and reads). "The pioneers shot moose and bears to eat, and at my house we could save on groceries if we had . .. " No. (He tears it out, wads it up, tosses it into the overflowing wastebasket.)
“What I want for Christmas” by Ralph Parker. What I want for Christmas is the legendary official Red Ryder carbine action 200-shot Range Model air rifle with a compass and this thing which tells time built right into the stock. It is a very good thing to get for Christmas. (Pause.) I don't think Tinker Toys are a very good Christmas present. Lincoln Logs aren't a good present, either. The end." (He puts it down, writes. Reads.) "P.S. Have a Merry Christmas, Miss Shields."
