Frequently Asked Questions

Who will be on site?

Our summer sessions at Pittsburgh Public Theater are facilitated by highly qualified teaching artists and support staff from our education and engagement team. All staff members interacting with your kids will undergo FBI fingerprint background check, Act 33 Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, and Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Record checks as described in Act 34.

Can parents stay and observe?

While parents are welcome to hang out in the lobby area, we kindly request that they refrain from entering the classrooms themselves. This ensures a focused and comfortable environment for our campers to explore their creativity.

What will the staff ratio be?

We prioritize safety and personalized attention for every camper. Each summer session will have a minimum of two instructors present, maintaining a favorable staff-to-student ratio. Additionally, our sessions have a maximum capacity of 20 students to ensure quality interaction and supervision.

Is lunch provided?

Lunch is not provided. Full-day campers who are enrolled for both morning and afternoon sessions are encouraged to bring their own packed lunches and snacks to enjoy during designated break times.

My kid has a food allergy or another medical concern.

Before the start of your camper's session, you will receive a link to a form where you can provide us with any necessary medical information, including allergies and medication details. Your child's safety and well-being are our top priorities, and we strive to accommodate all needs.

What is the cancellation policy?

We understand that plans can change. To cancel or reschedule a camp session, we ask for at least 12 days' notice. Cancellations made between 12 and 7 days before the session are eligible for a 50% refund, while no refunds are offered beyond that point. Rescheduling within the 12- to 7-day window is free, but changes made within 7 days incur a small rescheduling fee of $25.

Do you offer scholarships?

Limited scholarships are available. Contact Dominique Briggs at dbriggs@ppt.org.
