First postponed from January to July 20-Aug. 7, the solo musical by Downton Abbey’s Mrs. Patmore, Lesley Nicol, has been canceled. During the show’s Chicago engagement in March, the Chicago Sun Times labeled it a “must-see.”

The second Downton Abbey movie, including Nicol, opened in theaters last week. 

Nicol’s canceled her touring show due to the death of her husband. According to Hello Magazine, her agent, Paul Pearson, confirmed the news in a statement which read: “I would like to confirm the passing of Lesley’s beloved husband David Heald, known to all his wonderful friends as Da’aboth.

The Public has yet to announce that another show is coming up soon, but actor Michael Gross spilled the beans on Facebook. The Family Ties actor wrote that he and former costar Meredith Baxter would be performing “Love Letters” here. His post read: 

“Sorry, Meredith Baxter, as if seven years on Family Ties weren’t enough, you’ll have to suffer through six more performances of Love Letters with me at the Pittsburgh Public Theater, from June 20-24. Stay tuned for further details.”

Prior to Love Letters, he next and show of the Public’s 2022-23 season is Two Trains Running, directed by Justin Emeka June 1-19 at the O’Reilly. The cast comprises Brian D. CoatsMelessie ClarkAnanias J DixonWali JamalBrenden PeiferBrian StarksRichard McBride and Mia Sterbini.
